CD Release Party at the Yardbird Suite

The recording has been laid down, and is now in post-production! Come on out to celebrate the release of our first recording, "Just Friends", comprised of all-original music or arrangements by Allan Gilliland or Larry Schrum. 

The band members have been practising their autographs for this evening - come on out and get your share on your own copy of the CD. Copies will be available for sale at the show. Sorry, quantities available for purchase are limited - no more than 1000 copies per person at this event! Please inquire with any of the band members should you require an exception to this rule - we'll see what we can do.

Been there, done that!

May 16, 2010  The band did a fundraiser to help support the purchase of a new nine foot Steinway concert grand piano in the chapel at the Augustana Campus, University of Alberta in Camrose. Guest vocalist, Brittany Bailey, joined the band to put on an evening of new and old jazz tunes to an appreciative full house.

March 18, 2010  We played a fun night of jazz numbers to top off a dinner for an association of Alberta surgeons at the Old Timers Cabin.

February 5, 2010 Simone on Simone at Festival Place - A sold out show with Nina Simone's remarkably talented and charming daughter Simone performing a retrospective of her mother's well known material. She put on an awesome musical event accompanied by the River City Big Band. It was an honour for us to play for her and her arranger-conductor, Ken Moyer. 

December 17, 18, & 19, 2009 A Jazzy Christmas (December 17 at Fort Saskatchewan's Dow Centre, December 18 at Spruce Grove's Horizon Stage, and December 19 at the U of A Myer Horowitz Theatre) - Featuring wonderful recording artists, vocalist Shelley Jones and Juno Award-winning guitarist Bobby Cairns!
